![]() Yet, for a game made in 2008, the worldbuilding was certainly dated by today's standards. But the Zone is not a place of frivolous pursuits. I was searching for artifacts, mostly to sell it to the local guy who deals in these stuff. Truth to be told, this stalker's life was meaningless. ![]() However, all the jankiness, and the outdated graphics aside, one thing which made this game so memorable for me was the fact that, patrolling through the Zone made me feel 'alive'. It's marketed as a shooter survival horror, similar to another similar series set in post apocalyptic Russia, Metro. ![]() I remember playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call of Pripiyat. And whatever I say might sound convoluted, but bear with me. Now, this might sound quite confusing at first. A game where I subconsciously become the protagonist himself/herself and not just playing a character's story. But, by my own definition, I feel immersed in a game when the game makes me forget the fact that it's a game and teleports me into their world, inciting real time feelings and thoughts. ![]() And I agree, there isn't any proper rigid description of what immersion in videogames means. 'Immersion' is a word very loosely thrown around by many people while describing games. ![]()
